Marseille (pop 800,000) is our least favourite city so far! It is overcrowded, dirty (rubbish everwhere), full of traffic and one way streets.
What a pity it has not made more use of its Meditteranean location. The photo was taken at the Basilica de Notre Dame De La Garde, 150m above the city. You can also see the Isles D'Endoume (French version of Alcatraz), 2km off the coast where "The Count Of Monte Cristo" was based. The city also has a 4th century church and crypt called Abbaye St Victor.
Marseille has a predominantly immigrant population from North and West Africa with sites, smells and fabric stores to boot!

By the time you read this , Australia will have knocked Italy out of the World Cup. During your travels throughout Italy, I strongly advise that you dont wear anything Green or Gold, unless of course you have an Infantry Division under your command.

The Italians were well practiced in their 'Hollywood' falls - it is all over the news, plus there is footage of their training sessions that shows them practicing how to fall in order to get penalty shots! The Italians should be disgusted with themselves!

ReplyDeleteThe greek Pappas' have already slept over one night, the aussie Pappas' house. Boy does mum have to do alot of work!! But it's all for a good cause! The kids are fantastic! And both parents look vibrant! Glad to have'em over..
